The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle
The Zombies are one of the best examples of a post-mortem success story. Their American release of their second LP, Odessey and Oracle, was lost in obscurity until 1969 - two years after the album was released - when a DJ found "Time of the Season" and put it in heavy rotation. The song became a hit, and the band became critically acclaimed. Unfortunately, there was no band. The Zombies broke up before the record was even released in 1967, leaving behind this gem of an album. The complex harmonies and vocal arrangements are a treat, and makes this a great summer album. Check out songs like "A Rose for Emily" and "I Want Her She Wants Me" and try not to fall in love with the heartfelt lyrics and incredible melodies. (mp3's are on their way)
